Clear a clog in a bathroom sink

Chances are that if you're here, you've probably already tried drain-o and that couldn't clear your clog. Below is what to do if you've got stubborn clog.

Method 1:

Level of difficulty: Easy
Estimated time taken: 15 minutes
Tools required:

  • Mini drain snake
  • Flashlight

Step 1: Locate your drain linkage assembly

  • This is attached to a long thin piece of metal that connects to your drain lever. It is pictured in the video below.

Step 2: Remove the rod and ball

  1. Unscrew counter clock wise
  2. Pull rod out

Step 3: Remove drain plug

  • Your drain plug should now be free and you can easily lift it out of the sink

Step 4: Clear the clog

  1. You now have access to your drain pipe
  2. Inspect inside the drain with a flashlight
  3. If you can, remove any blockage with your fingers
  4. If not, insert your mini drain snake as far as it will go down
  5. Pull the mini drain snake out
  6. Repeat until your drain is clear

Step 5: Reassemble

  1. Put your drain plug back in
  2. Attach your drain linkage assemble

Step 6: Test it out

  • Fill your sink up and see if your issue has been resolved
