Shower head leaks

Level of difficulty: Easy
Estimated time taken: 10 minutes
Tools required:

  • Teflon tape
  • Channel lock pliers
  • Electrical tape
  • Rag
  • Possibly paint thinner

Step 1: Remove shower head

  1. First attempt to remove this with your hands by rotating your shower head counter clockwise
  2. If you are unsuccessful, use your channel locks with electrical tape taped to the grips
  3. Slowly rotate the shower head counter clockwise until loose

Step 2: Remove old teflon tape and debris

  • If you are unable to completely clear the threads of any debris, use a rag and paint thinner to try and remove what you were unable to

Step 3: Re-apply teflon tape

  1. Once your threads are clear, apply teflon tape
  2. Ensure you are applying teflon tape in a clock wise motion, the same way you will be screwing on the shower head

Step 4: Put shower head back on

  1. Put shower head back on in reverse order of how you took it off
  2. Tighten with channel locks
